A Message From Your County Clerk
Looking back on 2008 and forward to 2009, the Clerk’s Office is undergoing changes in appearance to the Burlington location. We are currently in the midst of a large renovation which will add additional space to each department.
Soon, those of you visiting the Burlington Motor Vehicle Department will notice the new entry/exit area. We are hopeful this will alleviate long lines and provide more efficient customer service. The office will include updated and handicap accessible work stations complete with state of the art computer systems. Also, the Sheriff’s inspector will be located in the office, providing assistance to those residents who require vehicle inspections.
Temporarily, the Voter Registration Department is located in the lower level of the Administration Building in Burlington. Having this additional space for absentee voting before the 2008 General Election proved to be a worthwhile advantage. The Presidential Election saw a record number of voters come out to cast their ballot and currently the Boone County Board of Elections is in the process of making changes to our most crowded precincts. Anyone interested in working as an election official in the 2010 elections, please contact your respective representative:
Democrats contact Sheila Hill at (859) 689-2300
Republicans contact Jonathan Brown at (859) 689-4524
Budget constraints statewide have affected grants available through the Department of Library & Archives, however, we are anticipating continuing with the current preservation and storage of legal records as our remodel progresses into that area of the office.
Your comments and suggestions are appreciated and help to improve the efficiency of the office, so please do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks again to my awesome staff and to all the great Boone County citizens for another successful year.
